Hitachi Donor Drives' Compatibility
As we all know that Hard drive malfunctions can be caused by firmware, head or PCB damage, or motor stuck, at this time you need to find a donor drive for firmware or for head/platter/PCB swap, for Hitachi donor drives, you can use the following information to check its compatibility:
Donor Firmware Require:
1st choice: Enter Safe mode, Backup the firmware modules except RAM0 module and then write back to the SA-A and B.
(Note here: If you include the RAM0 module of the SA-C, it will keep the drive clicking)
2nd Choice: If the SA-C is broken, Find a donor drive requiring the same series number of the same capacity, such as 7250 series.
Donor PCB Require:
2.5’ HDD
1. Same model Number
2. Same PCB version
Then we must do NV repair, then the drive would work well.
3.5’ HDD
Same model number, but after PCB changed, we need to do DYNAMIC REPAIR.
Donor Head Require:
1. Same Model Number
2. Same MLC Number
